Iranian teachers hold protests rallies in several cities—October 2021

Teachers and education workers held rallies across Iran on Thursday, October 14, 2021, protesting regime policiesThe protests took place in at least 45 cities, including Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Tabriz, and Shiraz.

These protests have been ongoing since September. Teachers are facing unemployment and low and delayed wages.

Iranian teachers receive a fraction of the minimum they need to make ends meet.

Recent years have seen a spike in suicides among Iranian teachers who can’t provide for their families.

Many qualified teachers remain unemployed despite a shortage of teachers in several parts of Iran.
